Ultrasound at 36 Weeks of Pregnancy

In the final stage of pregnancy, typically around the 36th week, an important ultrasound examination is performed. The primary goal of this scan is to check whether your baby is developing and growing at the correct pace before the approaching birth. We especially focus on the early detection of any late growth restriction that might not have been apparent in earlier stages of pregnancy.

Why Is This Examination Important?

Even if you’ve had previous ultrasound checks, a baby’s growth can change in the final weeks. This examination allows us to:

  • If we detect any deviations from the norm during the examination, such as the baby being smaller than expected, we’ll inform you immediately. We will then discuss the next steps with you, including any additional checks or measures, to ensure your baby’s health and safety before birth. Our goal is to identify any potential risks early and provide the best possible care.
  • This ultrasound examination will provide you with crucial information and peace of mind before the arrival of your little one.

Preparing for the Examination

You generally don’t need any special preparation for a third-trimester ultrasound. It’s not necessary to have a full bladder. We recommend wearing comfortable clothing and increasing your intake of still, unsweetened liquids a few days before the examination.

Safety of the Examination

Ultrasound is a safe and non-invasive diagnostic method that poses no risk to either the mother or the fetus.

In our clinic, we emphasize an individualized approach and a detailed explanation of all findings. Our goal is for you to feel informed and at ease. If you have any questions regarding the third-trimester ultrasound, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
